Presentation Summary

While the graphene industry has witnessed substantial improvements during the past few years, there are still many challenges to be addressed to realize the full commercial potential of this wonder material. Unlike plastics that are pliable and easily shaped, graphene is hardly dispersible in any solvent, making its further processing difficult. The market is lacking unique approaches for the exfoliation and processing of graphene without compromising its intrinsic properties. Nanotech Energy has developed new protocols for the mass production of graphene with outstanding electrochemical properties and a unique combination of large surface area, high electronic conductivity and excellent mechanical properties. We have also developed new innovative methods for the incorporation of graphene into different manufacturing environments. As a result, our graphene products have the potential to transform the graphene industry. In this talk, our efforts in the mass production of graphene and its processing into a wide range of products with unparalleled performance including batteries, supercapacitors, functional inks, conductive epoxy and EMI shielding will be highlighted.

Speaker Biography (Maher El-Kady)

Dr. Maher El-Kady is an academic researcher at UCLA and CTO at Nanotech Energy, Inc. For more than 12 years, he has been studying the chemistry and physics of materials with applications in energy storage, electronic devices, medical and healthcare devices, chemical sensors and biosensors, nanogenerators, solar cells, water splitting, hydrogen energy, water remediation and environmental monitoring. El-Kady has co-authored 17 US and international patents and 45+ papers in prestigious journals. His groundbreaking work on graphene led to the development of Nanotech Energy, Inc. where he is leading a team of scientists and engineers for creating more powerful batteries. He has received numerous awards for his research including the UCLA Herbert Newby McCoy Award, the Lindau International Graduate Student Award, the Amgen Postdoctoral Award, and the Excellence in Research Award from the Government of Egypt.

Company Profile (Nanotech Energy Inc)
